There are performances that are worth more than a win. This is the case of the sixth place won at the Fursan Cup 2022 by Costanza Laliscia, the 22-year-old rider from Perugia of the Fuxiateam of Italia Endurance Stables & Academy, who on Saturday 29 January represented Italy in the Saudi desert of Al-Ula. Sixth, in the 120-kilometer race that saw the best 200 pairs in the world compete against each other, representing 30 nations, and the youngest rider with the best final classification, Costanza was able to achieve her best result in a race in the desert with Emirat Du Barthas, a grey Arab from 2004. She once again confirmed the great skills of managing horses even in the most difficult situations.
The Fursan Cup 2022, in addition to a lot of first-rate participants in which were world champions and winners of the most important international competitions in recent years, presented a very demanding track: deep sand and a rhythmic altitude required skills not common to horses and riders. But Costanza and Emirat du Barthas managed it brilliantly, finishing at an overall average of 16,252 km/h with the last of the four loops covered at a record average of 23,639 km/h. The duo of the Fuxiateam, which built its exploit in the structures of Agello at Italia Endurance Stables & Academy, was the protagonist of a tactically perfect test: 62nd in the first loop, 38th in the second one, 13th in the third one and sixth at the finish line for a Saturday impossible to forget.
“It was hard – comments Costanza Laliscia – and for this very reason extremely exciting. Emirat Du Barthas, a young horse and his debut in a desert race, rode as a veteran, adapted very well to the course, grew from kilometer to kilometer and constantly gave me the feeling of being in a position to give my best. The last loop at the average, the best of all the pairs in the race, was fantastic “.
Skyrocketing satisfaction also in the Fuxiateam of Italia Endurance Stables & Academy. The President Simona Zucchetta testifies this: “Although Costanza has accustomed us to results of great depth, what she was capable of in AlUla together with Emirat Du Barthas, she deserves a special applause. As usual, you have been able to transform the great daily work of the team into a memorable performance, supported in the race by two first-rate assistants such as Alessandro Cocciuti and Carlo Di Battista”.
